Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get more information and start the process of planning a sleepover?

The easiest way to begin is to join and become a Sleepover Rover member by opening a new client account. You can find this selection on the How to Get Started page just below the Join Now button by clicking the Register here link. After you create a new client account, go back to the home page and log in with your user name and password. Once you are a member,  host family contact information will be visible to you when you log in.  To begin the process, review the host profiles and directly contact the host who best matches your needs.  The host profile will indicate host preferences to help you make your match. When you initially contact the host, if it sounds like a match, the host will invite you over for a free 15-minute previsit in their home. This is an important step in the process to make sure you and the host are comfortable with the match, and the host family’s dog, if they have one, and your dog(s) get along. At the previsit you can discuss the details of your travel plans and finalize arrangements. You can meet multiple hosts if you choose in order to find the best match for your pet.

How do you select the host families?

During the first phase of screening, we question prospective hosts to determine if they meet the basic qualifications to host. During the second phase we personally visit each host family at their home. We carefully interview the candidate, inspect their home and yard, and answer their questions. All our hosts are home full time (but not 24/7, of course). We select only those people to whom we would entrust our own dogs - and we are very choosy!  New hosts are able to join and post a profile and picture, but “certified” hosts are clearly noted as such on their profile. New hosts have passed the initial phone interview. A Sleepover Rover Representative visits and inspects a new host within 30 days of their initial enrollment.  You might wonder if a client would ever use a “new” but not certified host and the answer is YES! Since all hosts offer a free 15 minute no obligation previsit, an ideal match for you might have just signed up and after meeting them, you might be completely comfortable with the match.

Does Sleepover Rover offer daycare services?

Yes, we do!  Review our host profiles which will list the services our host families offer, including daycare.

Who do I pay and what means of payment do you accept?

All our host families are under contract with Sleepover Rover Inc. and agree to charge clients our pre-set fees for services.  Ask the host you’ve chosen about forms of payment they accept. Payment in full is due to the host family at drop off, and most hosts will ask for a deposit to reserve their time for you – especially during holiday season.

May I offer a gratuity to my pet host?

Yes, you may offer it directly to your host.

What is your cancellation policy?

Hosts will give a full refund of your deposit, less a $25 cancellation fee if you notify them at least 14 days prior to your pet's drop off date.

Does Sleepover Rover, Inc. ever share my information with any other company or individual?

We honor your trust by keeping all your information private. We do not share information with any other company or organization. Your credit card transactions for membership are processed through our secure Bank of America site.

Will I have the same pet host for future sleepovers?

You may request the same pet host for future sleepovers. Many of our repeat clients have two or three host families that they use on a regular basis.

What happens if my pet becomes ill or injured?

In any emergency, your host will always try to reach you or your emergency contact immediately. Furthermore, before you leave your pet with the host, they will record your instructions for emergencies including emergency veterinary care.  We suggest that you keep a credit card number on file with your veterinarian in the event of unforeseen emergencies. If necessary, your pet host or a representative from Sleepover Rover, Inc. will take your dog to your veterinarian and coordinate the care necessary - just as you would yourself.

Is there a way for you to keep in touch with us, just to let us know everything is okay?

Absolutely! Your pet host can keep in touch through email or voice mail or you may call them directly while you are away. Your peace of mind is very important to us!
